Bar Chart

Also known as Bar Graph or Column Graph.

When comparing multiple categories quantitatively, a Bar Chart can be used, with the bars either horizontally (row chart) or vertically (column chart). Discrete values are represented along one axis of the chart, while the other axis shows the contrasting categories.

In contrast to Histograms, which show how data changes continuously over time, Bar Charts only show how that data changes at discrete points in time. On the other hand, the categorical nature of the data represented by a bar chart allows us to directly answer the question "how many?" for each grouping.
